Health and Community Wellbeing: A Pillar of Lasting Transformation
At North Gem Community Development Program, we recognize that health is the foundation of development. Our commitment to health and community wellbeing is deeply embedded in our mission to nurture resilient, empowered, and thriving communities across Siaya County.
Since our inception, we have taken a holistic approach to health, addressing not only physical wellness but also the social and economic factors that influence wellbeing. Our interventions range from HIV prevention and care, maternal and child health, to hygiene education, mental health awareness, and support for vulnerable groups.
Our Impact on Health and Wellbeing
Our work has already led to measurable, life-changing results:
-
14,000+ youth and adults sensitized on HIV prevention and behavior change.
-
600 people living with HIV have received consistent support, counseling, and linkage to care.
-
290 vulnerable children have accessed educational support, reducing dropout rates and boosting psychosocial wellbeing.
-
6 health facilities were equipped with essential maternal and newborn health tools, improving outcomes for mothers and infants.
-
2,145 children under five received full immunization, contributing to lower child mortality rates in the region.
These achievements are not isolated—they are part of a larger strategy to create safe, healthy, and empowered communities, where people can live with dignity and reach their full potential.
Looking Ahead: Our Health Vision
As we move forward, we are scaling our efforts with clear, people-centered goals:
-
Deepen HIV prevention efforts through youth mentorship, behavior change campaigns, and stigma reduction.
-
Enhance community health systems by training local health volunteers and strengthening partnerships with public health facilities.
-
Expand our focus to include mental health awareness and trauma-informed support, especially for youth and caregivers.
-
Promote sexual and reproductive health education, ensuring that adolescents and young women have access to accurate information and essential services.
-
Build community resilience through integrated programs that combine health education with nutrition, sanitation, and psychosocial support.
Our Invitation to Partners
Health and wellbeing are not only individual needs—they are collective rights and shared responsibilities. At North Gem, we are building a movement of care—grounded in community trust, driven by local leadership, and guided by faith-based values.
We invite donors and partners to walk with us as we continue to address critical health challenges with dignity, innovation, and impact. Together, we can create a future where every child is protected, every mother is safe, and every family has the tools to live well.
